A best-selling author, Delaney Dobbins has no idea that her life is about to be turned upside down after the release of her latest crime novel. Little does she know that she has an exceptional gift that she cannot stop from happening. When it lands her in a safe house with a local TV anchor, she cannot imagine how her life is about to change.
This romantic suspense novella is 23,000 words, and does have some romantic/sexual situations.
Here is a sample from this gripping love story:
A man in a dark shirt and jeans was towering over her. He had a shaved head with tattoos on it and reeked of cigarette smoke.
“Shut up, lady. Keep your mouth shut and you won't get hurt,” he yelled as he kicked the door shut behind him.
Delaney started backing across the floor on her butt trying to get away. She couldn't get to her feet because as soon as she tried, he straddled her on the floor to hold her down. He grabbed both of her hands, and pinned them on the floor above her head.
“Please, don't.... You can take anything you want.... please don't hurt me....” she whimpered with tears streaming down her face.
“I said shut up!” he slapped Delaney across the face leaving a red mark. “Can't you follow a simple order, idiot?” he yelled as he pinned both of her hands once again.
Delaney continued to wiggle underneath his hips. She was sure he was going to rape her. Her dress had slid up to her thighs when she fell. He was so heavy, there was no way she could escape.
“You got something I want.... Well, you got a lot of stuff I want, but I don't have time for that right now...” he said sliding his hand up her dress and touching her stomach. “You'd like it, though, wouldn't you? Maybe I can tie you up and have a little fun before we get some business handled...”
Delaney spit at him in the face which made him release one of her hands to wipe it away. When he did, she managed to grab the cast iron doorstop that she kept by the bottom stair. She raised it and hit him square on the head as hard as she could. His eyes fixed for a moment before he fell over on top of her. She could barely breathe. She felt for a pulse, and he had one. She knew she had limited time to get him off her and get away.

What do missing Romanov children, supposedly executed in 1918, have to do with Imperial treasures mysteriously found and sold on the black market by corrupt Nazi officials in 1943?
Lena Schillers’s mother escaped their homeland, fleeing the Russian Revolution when Lena was very young. They settled in Rostock, Germany, but her mother disappeared soon after, leaving Lena in the care of a kind woman and a rich stepfather who barely acknowledged her existence then.
Lena has grown up, and her stepfather notices her now. But she has bigger problems: Hitler has sent his enforcers to Rostock to find someone to blame for the theft of his looted treasures, which somehow seem to have gone missing. Repeatedly. But only those stolen from Russian Imperial palaces.
Lena must give them a scapegoat before the Gestapo starts hauling people away, including herself:
"Remember my name, my daughter, my dear one, but speak of me only in whispers...."
The Facts:
Russia, 1917: In September, a train loaded with boxes of treasures confiscated from palaces of the Imperial family made its way into Moscow. The Fabergé Imperial Easter Eggs had not been presented at Livadia that year, as the Romanov family had been arrested and held prisoner at Tsarskoe Selo.
Russia, 1918: While detained, the women of the Romanov family secretly sewed a fortune in precious gemstones into their clothes. There’s no credible account of the recovery of these jewels, and for decades the last FabergĂ© Easter Eggs for 1917 were presumed either non-existent, destroyed, or lost.
Russia, 1941: Officers of the Nazi blitzkrieg occupied Livadia, a Romanov palace on the Black Sea. There, they found a secret wall safe kept hidden from the looting-Bolsheviks for decades. When the Soviets recaptured the palace, the wall safe had been opened without force and was empty, with no clue as to what had been inside.

The passion that sparks between them is like nothing she has ever known, heady and addictive.

Simon refuses to be kept a prisoner any longer by the puppetmasters who have been pulling his strings ever since the war with Napoleon started.
