A man in a dark shirt and jeans was towering over her. He had a shaved head with tattoos on it and reeked of cigarette smoke.
“Shut up, lady. Keep your mouth shut and you won't get hurt,” he yelled as he kicked the door shut behind him.
Delaney started backing across the floor on her butt trying to get away. She couldn't get to her feet because as soon as she tried, he straddled her on the floor to hold her down. He grabbed both of her hands, and pinned them on the floor above her head.
“Please, don't.... You can take anything you want.... please don't hurt me....” she whimpered with tears streaming down her face.
“I said shut up!” he slapped Delaney across the face leaving a red mark. “Can't you follow a simple order, idiot?” he yelled as he pinned both of her hands once again.
Delaney continued to wiggle underneath his hips. She was sure he was going to rape her. Her dress had slid up to her thighs when she fell. He was so heavy, there was no way she could escape.
“You got something I want.... Well, you got a lot of stuff I want, but I don't have time for that right now...” he said sliding his hand up her dress and touching her stomach. “You'd like it, though, wouldn't you? Maybe I can tie you up and have a little fun before we get some business handled...”
Delaney spit at him in the face which made him release one of her hands to wipe it away. When he did, she managed to grab the cast iron doorstop that she kept by the bottom stair. She raised it and hit him square on the head as hard as she could. His eyes fixed for a moment before he fell over on top of her. She could barely breathe. She felt for a pulse, and he had one. She knew she had limited time to get him off her and get away.
What do missing Romanov children, supposedly executed in 1918, have to do with Imperial treasures mysteriously found and sold on the black market by corrupt Nazi officials in 1943?

Russia, 1918: While detained, the women of the Romanov family secretly sewed a fortune in precious gemstones into their clothes. There’s no credible account of the recovery of these jewels, and for decades the last Fabergé Easter Eggs for 1917 were presumed either non-existent, destroyed, or lost.
Russia, 1941: Officers of the Nazi blitzkrieg occupied Livadia, a Romanov palace on the Black Sea. There, they found a secret wall safe kept hidden from the looting-Bolsheviks for decades. When the Soviets recaptured the palace, the wall safe had been opened without force and was empty, with no clue as to what had been inside.
