A Mermaid's Curse

A Mermaid's Curse
Synopsis:

Arianna always felt like she didn’t belong in the world where she was born.  Ever since she was little, she used to hide behind the rocks in the sea, and watch the human family who spent their summers on that island.  Over the years, there was nothing she wished more than to be like them, especially so she could get close to Blake, the human boy who she saw turn into a troubled teenager and then, an unhappy man.
Once her dad grew tired of her dreams and hopes for a reality that is not her own, Arianna is thrown into an arranged marriage, and her only way out of it is to make a deal with the power-hungry man who will give her everything that she has ever dreamed of.  Dreams that turn into nightmares as she watches Blake’s world fall apart, because of her and Blake’s inability to control their desires for one another.

“You have no idea how damaged I am and honestly, I don’t even understand why you are still here.”
― Daniele LanzarottaInsatiable - A Mermaid's Curse

Author Bio :

Daniele Lanzarotta is the author of paranormal/fantasy novels, including the Imprinted Souls Series, Academy of the Fallen, and A Mermaid’s Curse. She has a bachelor's in business and finance and a MBA. With only a few semesters left in school, Daniele started writing as a hobby, but it didn't take long for her to be consumed by her stories. That is her passion, and she now has several projects under way.
She enjoys reading and writing young adult novels with just about any sort of paranormal or supernatural bent...vampires... ghosts... She also enjoys watching hockey, playing rock band, guitar hero and spending time with the family.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
I always enjoyed writing. I actually started writing my first book (Imprinted Souls) as a hobby, but I knew that was it. From that point on I’ve been writing one book right after the other… sometimes, even more than one at a time.

How long did it take you to write your book?
My latest release, Mermaid’s Curse, took me about 3 months from first to final draft.

What genre is your book? What made you choose to write in that category?
Mermaid’s Curse is fantasy/contemporary romance - new adult. After writing YA for a while, I decided to try something a little different. Not that I will ever stop writing YA. I still love it just the same. Also, I didn’t know much about mermaids so that was an added challenge.

What was your work schedule like when you were writing?
I always write at night when everything is quiet. For some reason, if I sit down to write after 11pm, I just can’t stop. I guess that is when my fictional peeps like to show up.
*Laughs*

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I’m not sure it’s that interesting, but I have to have music while writing and it has to come from earphones so that the music is all I can hear.

Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
It’s so random. I have ideas that come from listening to music, others that come while writing other books. It really varies.

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
I wrote nine books. Five in the Imprinted Souls Series, three in Academy of the Fallen, and one in Mermaid’s Curse. I hate to pick favorites, and that actually changes every time I write a new book. Whatever I’m working on at the moment becomes my favorite for the time being. I do have to say that Shattered Souls and Mermaid’s Curse got to me a little more than others.

Are you currently working on another book? If so, is it part of a series or something different?
I’m currently working on Forsaken, which is the final Academy of the Fallen novel.

What do you like to do when you're not writing?
I love reading and watching movies.

What does your family think of your writing?
Most love it. There are always those few who… well, let’s leave it at that. *Laughs*

What was one of the most surprising things you learned about yourself in creating your books?
When I find something that I want done, I will get it done. Positive thinking goes a long way.

Do you have any suggestions to help others become a better writer? If so, what are they?
Write what you love writing and write every day.

Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?
Yes, I hear from readers all the time and I love every minute of it. I often get asked if they can have Owen, Nicholas, Blake, Hunter, Ben… *Laughs* I really do have the best readers.

What do you think makes a good story?
Character development. I love getting attached to characters.

As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
For the most part, I wanted to be a doctor. That changed quite a few times when college time came around.

Are you self published or do you have a publisher? If self published, what made you decide to go that route?
I have an indie publisher. It’s the best of both worlds. I keep my rights and creative
control, and still have the support of a publisher.

Amazon 5 star review from Readers:

5.0 out of 5 stars loved this one!March 13, 2013
This review is from: Insatiable - A Mermaid's Curse (Kindle Edition)
Arianna would do just about anything to have legs and be a part of the human boy's world. Many times she comes to the surface just to catch a glimpse of him and his family. But Arianna must give it all up and marry one of her own. No longer able to ignore her duties, she is forced to marry Bram and live happily ever after.

As if! Arianna already knows that her heart belongs to a boy she has never even spoken to. And when given the opportunity to walk the earth and be with him, Arianna takes it...no matter the consequences.

So thankful and excited for the opportunity to read a book by Danielle Lanzarotta. I have yet to read her other works, but I know she has lots of fans. And after reading INSATIABLE: A MERMAID'S CURSE I can see why. I quickly devoured it and was pleased with the whole story line Think of it as a modern day THE LITTLE MERMAID with a NEW ADULT kick to it.

The characters were edgy and interesting and I just loved them. Especially Owen. Yes I realize I may be a minority here liking him but there was something about him. I think with the next book we will get a better look at him and all those secrets he seems to be hiding. I wanted to hate him in the beginning but there was no way I could. In the end, I started believing there was more to him than being evil.

Arianna was another great character. I really liked her from the very get go. She is so sweet and seeing her follow her heart to go after something she wanted was cake! Without thinking twice about the consequences she knew she had to take a risk to see if she could be with Blake. Or she may live the rest of her life regretting taking the risk. Only thing is I wish we could have gotten more time with her below the sea at the start. But I think with how things ended, we are not done with that world just yet.

Perfectly paced story, intriguing characters, and intense scenes had me flying through this book and eager for book 2. Now I need to do some serious catching up with Lanzorotta's other books. Please check out INSATIABLE: A MERMAID'S CURSE as soon as it is available.

Daniele has crossed over into adult paranormal from YA paranormal flawlessly with her first book in her A Mermaid’s Curse trilogy.

Arianna is a mermaid who has always felt like she didn’t belong in her world. She longs to be human and to be with the human boy Blake she has watched all her life. She has watched him turn into an unhappy man and wants nothing more then to make him happy and see his smile. Blake is stuck with a life he doesn’t want. Controlled by his dad in every aspect even down to marrying a woman he doesn’t love. One day Arianna’s world is turned upside down by her dad. She is forced to marry a merman she doesn’t love. So she flees and goes to the surface and meets Owen a power hungry man with an agenda all his own. He makes Arianna’s dream come true but she is not sure it’s worth seeing the damage it does to Blake.

I loved the three main characters so much for different reasons. We see so much growth from each of them. Arianna is a heroine you just fall in love with from page one and you want her to have her dreams come true. Blake annoyed me at first with his going back and fourth and hurting Arianna but when it really mattered he came through for her and was the man of her fairy tale she had always hoped for and knew he could be. Owen really surprised me as the story went on. I thought he was a bad guy but things came to light that had me wanting him to get everything he wanted.

If you have read any of Daniele’s books before then you know she is the queen of cliff hangers and this book is no different. When I got to the last page she had me shouting NO! and wanting to throw my kindle across the room. I am so impatiently waiting for book two to see what is going to happen with all three characters. 5/5 Bloody Fangs a Rafflecopter giveaway
