Sable Hunter does more than write racy romance novels, she can also cook! 

Many fans have asked for recipes that were mentioned in her books - so here are some of them, there are also recipes included that were given to her by author friends and fans.

Sable's dishes are made with a southern flair that only those native to certain parts of the South can conjure, as Sable has spent her life in Texas and Louisiana, home of some of the greatest cuisines in the world!

Inside you will find several of Sable's favorite dishes from Grilladas, Gumbo and Etoufee to a Pork Loin stuffed with Cajun Boudain. If you keep reading you'll find the secret McCoy Recipe for their fool-proof smoked brisket which is showcased in her Hell Yeah! Series.

As you progress through the cookbook, you'll find various links provided that will take you to the places where you can buy things like Tony Chachere's Cajun Seasoning, as well as the smoker used to cook some of these dishes.

You'll find the recipes are divided into Sections called 'Savory' for meat and vegetable dishes, and 'Sweeter' for desserts. These terms are a play on words about her books. Sable had become known for her steamy, savory romances, but the story-line has always been the most important element. So as to appeal to a wider audience, she will be releasing her Hell Yeah! books in a 'Sweeter' version in 2013 with the same emotional story and characters, but with a little less risqué material.

Sable Does It In The Kitchen

Excerpt:

Roasted Asparagus

and other Vegetables

2 bunches of asparagus

Olive oil

Kosher salt

Parmesan cheese

Preheat the oven to

400 degrees.

Line a cookie sheet with foil. Cut off the bottom fourth of each spear because that’s the tough part. Drizzle olive oil over the asparagus and roll them around with your fingers to coat them

good. Sprinkle with kosher salt. Put in oven and roast for approximately twelve to fifteen minutes, but check after ten because you might like them crunchier than I do. When the asparagus

begins to look almost done, sprinkle on some Parmesan cheese and let it melt before removing from the oven. Potatoes are the same principle, but I add some dill or parsley instead of the

Parmesan and I put the herb on at the beginning.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

I have always been a writer. In Junior High, I wrote love stories and my friends would pass them around, guessing which of the guys I was writing about. Later, I sorta went into business. My friends would commission me to write stories starring them and their boyfriends - of course they weren’t x-rated, I was too innocent to know all the good stuff back them.
As I grew up, I shelved it for other dreams. But when life got rough, I needed a place to escape. I didn’t like the world I was living in, so I wrote me up a new one. Lucky for me, other people like to visit my worlds, too.   


How long did it take you to write your book?

On the average it takes about ten weeks for me to write a book. By the time editing and a covers is complete - its usually three months. I have 15 books out now with about a half dozen or more to be released this year.  


What genre are your books?

My books are erotic romance, although I am venturing into the mainstream market and I have also written a cookbook.

What made you choose to write in that category?

I chose erotic romance because that is what I like to read. I don’t want to be shut out of the bedroom - I want to know what they are doing and how and I want to know what they feel. When I write, I am always the heroine and whoever I am crushing on at the time is the hero. That way, I can get into it and my litmus test is this - if it doesn’t turn me on, I need to turn up the heat.     

What was your work schedule like when you were writing?

I work all day on writing or plotting or promoting. I get up at 7 am and drink coffee. I work till midnight with breaks to eat and run. Of course there are days when I shop or visit family, but I keep a stringent schedule. I have lots to do.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

My interesting writing quirk is that I write from a recliner with my wiener dog sitting beside me. I don’t listen to music while I write, but I get lots of ideas from songs.
I learn as much about my characters as I can, because a lot of my plotting is done in the bed at night - I fantasize about my couple and what they do. Sometimes I jump up and write it down so I don’t forget.
I research my books and have been known to buy sex toys and even visit a strip club - I like to be thorough - haha.

Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?

I get ideas from everywhere. Some of them are long-standing fantasies and others are inspired by people I know. I can get inspired from almost anything - a song, a sermon, a newspaper article - even people in the mall could find themselves in my books if they do something interesting.  One thing I enjoy doing is traveling to places where I want to set a book. I take in the landscape and the scenery - the restaurants - -the food - the local flavor. Plus, its a tax deduction!   

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

I have written, at this moment 18 books and FORGET ME NEVER that I cowrote with my brother, Jess Hunter and Ryan O’Leary is my favorite. My books aren’t just sex - they are emotion and laughter and tears and a rollercoaster ride of adventure. I try to work in all the things that make life worth living.
The worlds I create in my books are places where right prevails, love conquers all and holding out for a hero is not an impossible dream.

Are you currently working on another book? If so, is it part of a series or something different?

Yes, I am currently working on five books.
Finding Dandi will come out soon and it is the third in the Hell Yeah! Cajun Style series which is a cross over to the Hell Yeah!
Skye Blue - Noah’s story - is in the Hell Yeah! series and it will come out this spring.
For A Hero is a collaboration with my brother and it will come out in early April.
Thunderbird is a collaboration with Ryan O’Leary and it will come out in late April.
Ryan and I also have a series starting that we call IT’S JUST SEX and will be an ongoing serial about Rosemary’s mission to capture the heart of one Andrew Jefferson Jackson III. It will be fun and flirty and hot and emotional - - just like we like to write. The first IT’s JUST SEX - Green With Envy comes out on St Patrick’s Day.
 

What do you like to do when you're not writing?

Good gracious - I love to run and cook. I ghost hunt for fun. Reading is a passion of mine and I adore animals. I also play classical piano and sing. My favorite TV shows are The Goodwife and Dallas.  

What does your family think of your writing? 

My brother is a writer also, plus he manages me. I don’t really have any other family.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned about yourself in creating your books?

I learned that I can do just about anything. Ha! That sounded funny, but I learned that my only limitation is me. If I can dream it up - I can make it happen. With my imagination - a little hoodoo - and a lot of blessings, I can move that mountain outside my door.
Seriously, I learned to depend upon myself. I write for a living, so I have to produce or I don’t eat. Writing has been good to me. I can do what I love, I can keep my own schedule - I have the hardest boss in the world - me, but I also have the freedom to do and pursue and to dream and to fly as high as the stars.
The greatest thing about writing is the people I’ve met - the readers, other authors - people that I would never have met otherwise and ones that I wouldn’t trade for anything.

Do you have any suggestions to help others become a better writer? If so, what are they?

Yes, just do it. There are more opportunities for writers now than ever before. With Amazon, ebook publishers, self publishing - you are only limited by what you can make up your mind to do. No other time in history has been more welcoming to writers - so if you can write and want to succeed - now is the time.  

Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say

I hear from my readers all the time. It is my policy to answer every email, message, web message - everything. I have made great friends. I have a forum and a street team and I hear comments and suggestions - I hear reviews and criticism and I get encouraged daily to WRITE FASTER.
I also have been told I have helped marriages, spiced up sex lives, encouraged women to believe in themselves and have hope for the future. I am so blessed. I have the best readers in the world.  

What do you think makes a good story?

A good story has characters you can fall in love with. There is a story - not just sex. The story has ingredients like suspense and laughter and things that pull on your heart strings - things that make you grip the book or ereader so tight that your knuckles go white. A good book will make you laugh out loud, shed a tear - and in my case (cause I write sexy) a good book should make you sweat. And want more - always want more.


As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?

Ha! As a child I knew I wanted to write, but I didn’t really consider making a living at it.
My ambition was to work for the state department. I wanted to major in political science and bring peace to the middle East. But my Mom said - be an accountant like Lawrence Pickering. Who? Ah well, I thank my mother for my career choice as a writer. Because I followed her advice and became an accountant and it was so boring that I left that career to write. So - thanks, Mom.

Are you self published or do you have a publisher? If self published, what made you decide to go that route?

I am both. I am published and I learned so much from the process. I am also self-published because I like the control factor. My self published works are the ones that have caught on, but my published ones benefit from their popularity. The best of both worlds is what I have.
