The New Girl (Webster Grove | Part 1)

A move to Webster Grove introduces her to a new school, new friends, and new experiences— including a few tender glances from her sexy English teacher. Lindsay looks and acts like the perfect fifteen year-old, but she’s hiding a dirty little secret that no amount of fashionista coverings can make better. Telling her mother her step-father is molesting her is not an option. Trying to kill herself again haunts her more than the scars on her wrists, and pretending to be perfect at school might very well drive her over the edge.

Megan knows all about lying. It's been part of her life ever since she realized the only way to escape her poverty-stricken neighborhood was to work hard, keep her mouth shut and wear a mask no one can penetrate. All that changes when Lindsay befriends her.

Can two girls who have little in common discover the value of a real friendship or will the secrets they dare not speak destroy them both?

Butterfly in Winter

Allison Stafford is fourteen. As if that is not enough to deal with in itself, her parents suddenly move her from her small town in Vermont to suburban Michigan, all in the middle of her freshman year of high school. For Allison, there is more to learn at her new school than just finding her way around. Soon she is attempting to make sense of her newly discovered sexuality, and wondering what it takes to fit in with the "cool" people at her school. Despite tragedy and several mistakes, Allison manages to survive. This novel leads the reader through the murky depths of high school, and reminds us all of the importance of true friendship.

An Unlikely Pair (My Once and Future Love: the high school years)
My Once and Future Love: The high school years.

By typical standards, Beth and Jacob should've never been friends, but it's funny what Geometry class and a shared backyard wall can bring about.

Running Wide Open (Full Throttle)
Book 1 in the Full Throttle Series

Cody Everett has a temper as hot as the inside of a combustion chamber, and it's landed him at his uncle's trailer, a last-chance home before military school. But how can he take the guy seriously when he calls himself Race, eats Twinkies for breakfast, and pals around with rednecks who drive in circles every Saturday night?

What Cody doesn't expect is for the arrangement to work. Or for Race to become the friend and mentor he's been looking for all his life. But just as Cody begins to settle in and get a handle on his supercharged temper, a crisis sends his life spinning out of control. Everything he's come to care about is threatened, and he has to choose between falling back on his old, familiar anger or stepping up to prove his loyalty to the only person he's ever dared to trust.

“The roar of engines practically explodes off the page in this compelling, heart-thumping debut. Cody Everett is a straight-shooter with attitude, smarts, and whip-cracking wit; he doesn’t pull any punches, and neither does author Lisa Nowak. The collision of Cody and the world of stock car racing makes for a great story, one of the best I’ve read in a long time. Running Wide Open is a book not to be missed.”

"First Daniel had warned me to be careful, now my dad. Even if they were right, even if Jake and I were a caustic combination, so freaking what? I was ready to burn."

Cassie Vogler is convinced she'll spend her junior year dateless until fellow astronomy nerd, Jake Gunderson, moves to her tiny West Texas town. He's handsome, humble, brilliant...and over-the-top religious, something Cassie can't comprehend. But a shared interest in stargazing cements their unlikely friendship.

Cassie soon falls for Jake, only to discover shocking details about his restrictive home life. Despite warnings from friends and family, she decides to save him and their budding relationship by freeing him from his oppressive family. Her plan, however, unleashes a tragedy that nearly destroys their love and dooms both the Voglers and Gundersons to a violent fate.

Contains teen peril, profanity, and some sexual contact. For mature readers, ages 15 and up.

Enchanter

Leah Parker is furious when she is paired up for a class project with silent, tough as nails, and incredibly intimidating Brandon Morris. Though she’s known him for years, Leah has made it a priority to stay away from him for a reason. As they are forced to spend time together, however, Leah finds that there is more to Brandon (and her feelings toward him) than meets the eye.

When a series of unexplainable events forces Brandon to reveal his true identity, Leah suddenly finds herself fighting to come to terms with who he is, and with the fact that by fulfilling his destiny she will lose the only man she’s ever loved. As a family secret is unveiled and old threats reveal new risks, they both have to find the strength to do what is expected of them. Even if that means losing each other in the process.

Love brought them together. His bloodline threatens to pull them apart. Will Leah allow Brandon to choose duty over love? Or will forces far beyond their control separate them before they have that chance?

The Way Life Was Forever

Sun-dwellers are foul monsters that eat a human’s flesh from their bones…or so sixteen-year-old Lyra has always been taught. To keep their citizens safe, her colony seals itself into the vaults by day.

Moonwalkers are horrible beasts that feed on the blood of men…at least, that is what Perseus was told. The only sure survival for his people is to lock themselves into their repositories each night.

Both labeled as undesirable by their respective kinds, a fated meeting in the forbidden forest offers Lyra and Perseus an unexpected chance at happiness. If they can overcome their own prejudices and discover the truth about one another before time runs out.

Can the sun-dweller and the moonwalker learn that when reality is distorted by hate and terror sometimes the only thing to truly fear is fear itself

Ravensborough (The Ravensborough Saga)
UK Link
Scarlett has made a leap of faith, moving with her mother to the city of Ravensborough on the island of Avalonia. But life is complicated on an island divided between Pagans who believe in magic and the ‘Rationalists’ who control most of the country.

Living with her mother’s Rationalist boyfriend, and going to a Rationalist school, Scarlett finds herself torn: between her new Rationalist friends and her Pagan ones, between her loyalty to her mother and her conscience, and between her boyfriend back home and a Pagan outcast named Gethan. When she scratches below the surface of life in Avalonia, she finds darkness and danger that terrifies her – but still draws her in.

Ravensborough tells the story of a society and a young woman divided, with echoes of real life conflict and the challenges everyone faces as they become adults. To forge her own life in Ravensborough, Scarlett will need to find more strength in herself than she ever imagined.
