He ghosted behind the couple. Following them on silent feet, staying deep in the
shadows of the buildings. Ky noted the way the woman walked as they made
their way along the sidewalk. Her legs appeared unsteady, most of her weight
supported by the male’s arm around her waist, which seemed strange because
she had not consumed all that much alcohol at the bar. Only two glasses of wine,
by his count. The agent heard her speaking throughout the night and she had
annunciated clearly. Yet now she seemed unsteady, and her words slurred as
they left her lips.
She stumbled. Catching on a bit of raised sidewalk, her shoe flew off
behind her in Ky’s direction. She turned and looked over her shoulder. When her
eyes met his, Ky’s heart hitched in his chest, time froze.
The bronzed skin of her heart-shaped face appeared flawless. Long dark
haired flowed around her shoulders with the turn of her head. Her chocolate eyes
captured his, holding his gaze. The fall of her lashes broke the spell, creating
dark crescents on her delicate cheekbones. Her petite nose led to full, pouty lips
that sent a surge of desire through his body. His sure strides faltered under the
weight of her beauty. She was a goddess.
And she was in grave danger.

Humans had no idea Dream Weavers used what they called mirrors as portals.

The reflective glass was a perfect cover to hide what lay within. Looking from the
human world, people only saw reflections of themselves and their surroundings.
But from the other side the vortex was an entryway from the Dream Weaver
world. A threshold he used to enter or see into the human dimension.

This night Zane opted to use it as a window, remaining in his dimension as his
eyes scanned the room. He needed to be sure not to alert the Dream Stalker.
The negative emotions from the human’s dream came through the portal, making
him feel uncomfortable. They coated his energy, wrapped around him like
tentacles.

He’d never experienced such strong emotions. They weighed heavily upon his
energy, surrounding him. Enticing him. But he pulled back, grateful for once that
the only way he could absorb the strong emotions would be to push through into
the human dimension and take human form.

His gaze swept the modest bathroom. The walls were painted apartment white,
blue towels hung from a bar across from the mirror. He looked down on a
utilitarian sink and white counter top. Zane was just about to push through the
portal and take his corporeal form when movement from the corner of the room
caught his eye. He froze, waiting.

Was this the source of the negative emotions? The Dream Stalker?

Before him appeared a human form wrapped in a white towel. The person stood
facing away from the mirror, but Zane knew two things. One, there was no doubt
this was a woman. The way the towel hugged her slight curves, conforming to
her toned body told him that. And two, this was not one of his kind. He’d have
sensed another Dream Weaver immediately which meant she had to be human.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

About five years ago, I was driving to work one morning and a scene popped into my head where two vampires were dueling it out in a bloody battle to the death. As that one scene morphed into others, I felt compelled to write down my ideas. That’s when I realized I wanted to be a writer.

How long did it take you to write your book?

A Midsummer Night’s Demon is a novella, so it took much less time than a full length novel. The basic story was completed in 10 days, with an additional week for revisions before I sent it into my editor.

What genre is your book? What made you choose to write in that category?

My story is a paranormal romance. I love this genre because the only thing limiting my characters is my imagination. If I need a character to walk through a wall, get from New York to Moscow in the blink of an eye, it can happen. I love it when pesky mortal limitations don’t get in the way of the story telling.

What was your work schedule like when you were writing?

My creative muse is a morning person, so I wake up early, make some coffee, and write. I don’t have a set amount of time or words per day. Instead I write until a chapter or two are complete. Some days it takes 4 hours, other days it may take 9 but either way I don’t stop until the chapter I’m working on is complete.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

My best ideas come around 3:00 a.m. so I get up and write. Most people think I’m nuts for getting up so early on the weekends, but what can I say, I’m just quirkly that way. ;)

Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?

I find inspiration all around, in the pink and purple hues of a sunrise, the silly story told around the lunch table about a bug in a co-worker’s pants. My mind takes the ordinary and twists it into something dark and paranormal. At any given time, I have at least two stories running around my head, which can be chaotic but fun.

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

I have written six novels, one novella and a short story. My favorite story is the third book in my series. I fell in love with the hero, Nicholai, and had a really hard time ending the story. It is my longest story to date and when my editor gets a hold of it I can only imagine what she’ll want to cut. :)

Are you currently working on another book? If so, is it part of a series or something different?

I am currently working on book 6 of the Alpha Council Chronicles series. Book one, Alpha Mine, releases later this year.

What do you like to do when you're not writing?

I love exploring new places. When I’m not writing (which isn’t often), I am on vacation or trasping around local spots of interest.

What does your family think of your writing?

It depends on the age. My teenage son thinks it’s really “cool” as long as he doesn’t have to read the love scenes. My father continually wants to know where I get my “wild” ideas, which I believe really means he doesn’t understand how in the world his sweet little girl ended up with writing paranormal romance. My husband is jealous that I have an imaginary world to live in with a bunch of sexy characters. And
my mother is totally supportive, just as she’s been throughout my entire life.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned about yourself in creating your books?

I learned I could write. Who knew? Seriously. I am not one of those authors who started writing stories in grade school. I was pushing forty before I started my first novel. When an early reader told me I should go for publication after reading my first manuscript, I was pleasantly surprised.

Do you have any suggestions to help others become a better writer? If so, what are they?

Read. Reading and writing go hand in hand. You learn to write by reading what others have written.

Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say

I adore hearing from readers. Most of them share what they liked about the story they read and I love that. I want to know how they felt reading the story, which character they liked (or didn’t). Reading a fan letter makes my heart sing.

As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?

I wanted to be a teacher—and I was for about thirteen years, before I moved into administration.

Are you self published or do you have a publisher? If self published, what made you decide to go that
route?

I write for two publishers, SoulMate Publishing and The Wild Rose Press. They are both e- publishers and I love them.
