M.T. Harrte Spotlight

Welcome, and come meet M.T. Harrte! Author of The Queen's Howl and The Queens Revelation!

Alexis Wolfe is a young werewolf living in the prime of her life, until her father's grisly suicide shoves her into the position of Alpha of the pack. In taking his place, she is also the newest member of the Dark Court's Council and the rightful Queen to the throne...that is if she can tear it from the cold dead hands of the defiant vampire plotting to stop her. It's the Year of the Wolf and Alexis will take back what's hers, even if that means taking down those closest to her.

Alexis Wolfe is the Queen of the Dark Court, and her position is being threatened. She quickly realizes more than her crown is at stake as new alliances are formed and others are torn apart. With her new found power she hopes to take down Samira, a treacherous vampire whose agenda is to make life miserable for Alexis.

Even through the darkness love is in the air. Alexis’ heart is up for grabs, but the prospects for true love are dim. Who has time for love when death and deceit lurks around every corner?

Hello World I'm M.T. Harrte, and I live and breathe books. How cliché right? I fancy myself as a werewolf wrangler, troll trainer, and would be vampire victim. On a serious note I have always had a love of books since I was young. I recently decided to share my weirdness with everyone and I hope you enjoy. Step into my world and be prepared to stay a while because once the door closes....there is no escape!!!

(insert evil laugh.)
I’m from Mississippi, the hospitality state!! I have a young daughter and a vicious dog named Mr. Belvedere. I love interacting with readers so feel free to contact me at any time!

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
I didn’t sit down and say hey I want to be a published writer until 2011. Prior to that, starting in junior high, I was always writing either short stories or poems.

How long did it take you to write your book?
Hmmmmm I think it took about 3 or 4 months...

What genre is your book? What made you choose to write in that category?
My book genre is paranormal. I chose that genre because the possibilities are endless and I’m a dreamer. Being human can be boring at times, but if I’m a vampire and my best friend is a shifter, we now have a recipe for some real fun!

What was your work schedule like when you were writing?
My work schedule was a pretty standard 8-5 in a call center. I sat in front of a computer ALL DAY. So in between calls I would type a few paragraphs or more. Plus I was in school at the time so I would alternate my attention between my writing and my school work.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I guess it’s not really a quirk, but I’m not fond of music playing in the background. It irks my nerves, mainly because I start singing along and getting distracted. Sometimes I would even start typing the song because I’m not truly paying attention. I prefer it to be quiet so I can hear the voices, see the scenery, and smell the atmosphere of the story. <--how awesome="" i="" know="" last="" right="" sentence="" span="" that="" was="">

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
I have written and PUBLISHED two, Book 1 and  Book 2 in the Alexis Wolfe Series. My favorite of the two is Book 2 The Queen’s Revelation. I think I did a better job of fleshing out the story, plus I was able to get help from some very wonderful ladies. I lacked proper outside input in the first book.

Are you currently working on another book?
If so, is it part of a series or something different? Yes I am working on something else and it’s awesome! It is a Young Adult novel, yes it is part of a series, no clue as to how many books there will be. I’m querying agents with it right now, and if they don’t bite then I’ll self publish again.

What does your family think of your writing? My family loves the fact that I’m writing. I think my Dad understands it a lot better since he likes to read and he likes paranormal books as well. My Mom doesn’t really get the whole paranormal thing, she prefers inspirational books, and all I can do is inspire mayhem lol.

As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
Don’t judge me, but I wanted to be an assassin for the government. Yes, I know...I’m a little twisted.
Government Assassin

Are you self published or do you have a publisher? If self published, what made you decide to go that route?
I decided to go that route once I was able to see how difficult it was to get a publisher. With self publishing I can get the story out to the public a lot quicker. However, self-publishing can be a slippery slope, some people hit the PUBLISH button and they shouldn’t...at least not yet.
