An Ice Cold Paradise (Harry Pine Adventures)
$2.99 Nook Link
When Valerie Sabatino arrives at his home on Oahu, the last thing Harry Pines wants is missing-persons action. There are two reasons why Harry's not the kind of guy who knocks on doors looking for business with his hat in his hand, and the other one is he doesn't wear a hat.

But when he learns the missing person is the son of Harry's long-ago cellmate, he has no choice but to strap it on. Helping friends is how Harry pays back. It also doesn't hurt that Valerie is the kind of woman who could bring drool to a statue's chin. Harry's only human.

In AN ICE COLD PARADISE Harry and his handy band of friends in Chicago and Hawaii peel back the curtain on a world of runaway girls turned into hookers and of soldiers paying off their gambling debts by stealing firearms. The stolen goods are used to fuel the mean little army of a loony Mormon Fundamentalist named Orrin Massey, who thinks he's the "One Mighty and Strong" right out of the original Mormon playbook.

Before it ends, Harry has fallen hard for Valerie and doesn't take kindly to it when Massey kidnaps her for one of his wives. No, not kindly at all. Harry can bring a lot of pain when he gets in a bad mood. If he has to put together a small army of his own and lead them to a mountaintop redoubt in northern Idaho to get Valerie back and settle the score, the degree of difficulty makes it all the sweeter.

My name is Olivia Hutchinson, but you can call me Hutch. I’m the owner of a fine establishment called For Anyone to See, which just happens to be an all male strip club. And if stories about strippers and murder and crime and sex make you squirmy, you should probably stop reading. Right now. I mean it. Just close up this book and go find something more wholesome to read.

But if you do decide to stick around, I think we’ll have a good time. Actually, our good time will have to wait until after I find out a few things:

1. Who stole my mother’s life savings and murdered one of my strippers.
2. Why my former “friend-with-benefits” is following me around.
3. Why one of my performers thinks it’s a good idea to change his stage name to “Lick-a-lot-a-puss.”

But once all those little mysteries are cleared up, I promise we are going to have a blast.

The problem is, Caroline has disappeared – and she’s left an urgent warning that Gretchen is in danger, too.

The Murder of Katie Boyle (Nice Girl Does Noir)

My two series protagonists, video producer Ellie Foreman and PI Georgia Davis, are very different people, but I love them both. They worked together in DOUBLEBACK (2009), but I'm  often asked how they originally met. Georgia made an appearance in A PICTURE OF GUILT, and then more substantively in AN IMAGE OF DEATH when she was still a cop, but they already had a passing acquaintance. How they met is explained in this short story, written and published in 2009. The story was published in a limited numbered edition and can also be found in print and on audio in my short story collection, NICE GIRL DOES NOIR.

Blackout (Sam Archer 3)

Young counter-terrorist cop Sam Archer arrives for work at the Armed Response Unit expecting a quiet day.

But unbeknownst to him, a storm is coming.

Three men have already been killed that morning. One committed suicide by the River Thames. Another was strangled in his car in Washington D.C. And the third was shot in the face in his high-rise New York apartment as he slept. The deaths seem random, thousands of miles apart. But they are all connected. By a shocking event fifteen years ago.

And this is only the beginning.

Archer, Chalky and the rest of the Unit suddenly find themselves plunged into a ferocious and violent confrontation, fighting for their lives. The enemy they are up against are brutal, highly trained, well-armed and anonymous. No one knows where they have come from. No one seems to know who they are.

But they have a vendetta. They will never forgive or forget, or show mercy.

And for some reason, they’re hell-bent on killing ten specific people before the end of the day.

As the Unit tries to find out who these killers are and locate the remaining targets so they can protect them, it becomes a race against time to see who can get there first. As the counter-terrorist unit and the vengeful enemy come up against each other all over the city, Archer and the team soon realise two things.

But playing the good Samaritan may be more trouble than it’s worth, when his moment of conscience hurls him into a shadowy world of violence, intrigue and deception.
Caught between duty to his fellow man and the anonymity of life on the road, the Samaritan could walk away. But when his estranged teenage daughter is threatened, he will make his choice—and never look back. By turns violent and insightful, this suspenseful novel from acclaimed journalist and author Jim Fusilli introduces an unforgettable hero to the ranks of contemporary American fiction.

In novels that crackle with wit and suspense, Harlan Coben has created one of the most fascinating heroes in suspense fiction: the wisecracking, tenderhearted sports agent Myron Bolitar. In this gripping third novel in the acclaimed series, Myron must confront a past that is dead and buried—and more dangerous than ever before.

The home is top-notch New Jersey suburban. The living room is Martha Stewart. The basement is Legos—and blood. The signs of a violent struggle. For Myron Bolitar, the disappearance of a man he once competed against is bringing back memories—of the sport he and Greg Downing had both played and the woman they both loved. Now, among the stars, the wannabes, the gamblers, and the groupies, Myron is embarking upon the strange ride of a sports hero gone wrong that just may lead to certain death. Namely, his own.
