Solstice

In Gavin Moxley's world, there is no thin line between right and wrong. In a personal crusade to help sever a line of disease carried by a clan of vampires; Gavin has no choice to be ruthless. The Vampires are purposely infecting the human population…waiting for humans to actively pass it on to each other. Gavin takes no chances and executes them one by one. Not strong or powerful, finding humans before they turn into full vampires is ideal and Gavin’s best bet. Yes, this is Gavin’s life… …And nothing ever changes it until a young half breed vampire with special abilities, Solstice, attaches and makes herself a fixture in his life when she asks for his help and protection and when a reluctant Gavin agrees he joins a dangerous game of cat and mouse. There is no safe place and the pair are constantly watching their backs. Torn between his hate and his love for Solstice Gavin is thrown into a moral dilemma that only he can figure out but two things are clear… His faith and Humanity are being tested and the past is not always forgotten.

 Solstice Excerpt

I thought to myself for a second. This girl is too unique, there is something that she is hiding; there has to be.
“There is,” she said, “Others are looking for me to study me and my ability to be a day walker.”
I knew it.
“Stop doing that mind reading thing,” I told her. She shook her head to stop what was probably habit.
“Sorry,” she replied, “but I can’t help it, I can’t stop it.”

Equinox Excerpt

Frustrated by his lack of choices in his “weapons department”, Gavin decided to slide into what he was good at; complete prick mode.
“So what’s ya got in here with silver,” Gavin mockingly asked.
The shop owner stood up from his seat behind the counter and looked at Gavin with wandering eyes. He knew right away that Gavin was not from Cowpens, hell, even South Carolina for that matter. There was something that he liked about him though, something they both knew but normally wouldn’t dare speak about.
“I have lots of things with silver on it,” he replied. Gavin looked around the counter and wall.
“Great, where is them at? I’d like to take a gander if I could?”
“Let me ask you a question,” the owner said, “Do you think that people succeed in life because of respect?”
“What do you mean?”
“If you take common courtesy towards another, then the likelihood of them helping you increases. Don’t you agree?”
“Yeah, I suppose so,” Gavin answered.
“You say that but all you’re doing is being a huge smart ass. Do you think you can stop being a smart ass for a little bit?”
