The Secret Apocalypse - Amazon

Los Angeles
February 23rd

Sixteen year old Rebecca Robinson is the sole survivor of the Australian Apocalypse. The death toll is at an estimated 22 million. The entire world wants to know what happened down there and since the military aren’t talking, everyone is looking to Rebecca for answers.

Sydney, Australia
3 Weeks Earlier

A deadly new virus is spreading through an immigration detention center in the outback. It is 100% lethal. There is no cure. As a precaution the Australian Government has ordered a nationwide quarantine. No one is allowed to leave the country. No one is allowed to enter. School across the country has been canceled.

Despite these warning signs Rebecca and her friends are in the mood to celebrate their extended summer vacation, blissfully unaware of the dangers that are coming their way.

Over the next few days, things go from bad to worse as the virus begins to spread throughout Australia, killing anyone infected and turning them into ferocious undead monsters. Worse, the military have been ordered to contain the spread of infection and to cover up all trace of the outbreak by any means necessary. Mass panic and hysteria grip the population as the plague reaches the outskirts of Sydney.

Rebecca and her friends realise that it's no longer safe to simply go home and lock the door. They need to make a run for it. They need to escape from Australia.

The Damned Summer (The Ruin Trilogy) - Amazon

When the paths of good and evil intersect, the resulting conflict can sometimes result in a scarring of the place where it happened. The town of Storm, Illinois is one such place, for long ago, a battle that resulted in a stalemate between the two forces had left a powerful imprint on the soil, an imprint that seems to scream out to the cosmos for a rematch, as if the land yearns for the battle to be finished so it can finally heal.

The demon from the original fight hungers for the rematch as well, in desperate need for the prize that was fought for, a prize that seems to have finally returned to the mortal world after nearly 500 years. A prize that is held among a group of teenagers whose main focus is partying and having a great summer before their senior year. Easy prey as far as the demon is concerned.

The side of good in this conflict is an ageing Vietnam vet and his small dog. The vet spent his youth running with the demon, but now fights against it every night in the meeting grounds of the physical world and the spiritual world, the place known as dreams.

It is in this summer of celebration and sin that the final clash between the demon and the old man with his dog will finally come to an end. A summer where the older generation fights for the souls of the oblivious younger generation. A battle that will not only determine the fate of the teens, but also those close to them as well.

Fooling around on your wife can be hazardous to your health. Jusk ask Tom.

He's a man with a lot to juggle: a frustrated wife, a secret new girlfriend, and the unpleasant task of trying to keep his deteriorating vintage farmhouse from falling down around him.

Now with his wife out of town for the week, Tom is eager to get busy under the covers with his beautiful new lover - but first there's something he has to finish up...in the CRAWLSPACE.

(CRAWLSPACE is a short story selection from SCREAMSCAPES: Tales of Terror, by Evans Light

Jack and his friends are ready for a weekend of fun and adventure as they explore his grandfather's plantation home. But this lighthearted journey takes a dark and twisted turn when Melody, Jack's girlfriend, discovers an old wooden box. Once opened, the game begins but who is making the rules and does the winner truly win? In this game there are two outcomes, death and survival....draw your straw if you dare.

This is a short story.

The Departments of Justice statistics show 5000-8000 home invasions are reported daily. At any given moment, anyone could enter a home and terrorize its occupants with the intent to murder.

Explore your worst fears imaginable, an uninvited man subtly and quickly enters the family home of three creating a tense atmosphere.

During a freak blizzard on Thanksgiving night, a man slyly enters the family home of three in Queens NYC.

The family is his family, but like strangers, this Schizophrenic gay homeless man, John, is there with the intent to murder his father and make him pay for the emotionally disconnected crime he has committed against him and others.

Follow this violent tale, as told by John, as the layers peel back and the truth surfaces.

Nick Whittier, having been alive for six centuries, has had plenty of time to master three professions. In a typical week he works as a police officer, lawyer and doctor and still finds time to murder someone and drink their blood. He used to feel guilty about the killings, but now he restricts himself to only eating the worst members of society. Few people in Starside, Illinois seem to care about the untimely deaths of spam e-mailers, pushy Jehovah Witnesses and politicians. However, the barriers between Nick's three secret lives start to crumble when a mysterious man from his past arrives in town seeking revenge. Nick must move quickly to prevent the three women in his life, and the authorities who are hunting him, from discovering his terrible secret.

Dark Moonlighting is the first book in the humorous series.  It explores four of the biggest clichés in popular culture, and it pokes fun at a number of popular television shows including Law & Order, Bones and House. It also takes a more realistic and amusing approach to the vampire cliché. For example, the average human has the equivalent of five Big Gulps worth of blood in their body. Nick takes twenty minutes to kill someone and, like the vampire bat, must immediately urinate afterwards.

No one knows where the zombie apocalypse started. No one knows why. By the time the scientists figured out what was happening, it was already too late. Most of humanity perished in the first few weeks, stricken down by a fast-moving infection, only to rise up again with an insatiable hunger for human flesh. Millions were burned to ash when the government rained nuclear fire on the dying cities in a futile effort to halt the contagion. Millions more simply lay down and gave up, unable, or perhaps unwilling, to exist in a world no longer fit for human occupancy.

Despite all the death and destruction, there were survivors, brave men and women who stared into the face of annihilation and chose instead, to live. To survive. Together, they set about to rebuild civilization, to create something new and lasting from the ruins of what came before.

This is their story...

Extended description:
The Bell Witch by John F.D. Taff is an historical horror novel/ghost story based on what is perhaps the most well-documented poltergeist case to occur in the United States. It tells the story of the Bells, an early 19th-century Tennessee farm family who begin to notice strange occurrences—odd noises, bangings, gurglings. Eventually, an entity reveals itself to the family, calling itself, simply, the Witch, and makes it clear from the outset that it was sent to kill the patriarch of the family, John Bell, for a reason it never makes quite clear.

The Witch’s antics, while not exactly endearing it to the Bells, make the spirit somewhat of a novelty. Word of its existence spreads, first through the Bell’s slaves, then through the rest of the community. It tells jokes, makes predictions, offers unwanted advice and even sings. It shows an intimate knowledge of The Bible and of history and politics.

It harasses those who annoy it most, saving its ire for John Bell and his teenage daughter, Betsy. These two people become the focus of the apparition’s attacks, both verbal and physical. Ultimately, the Witch fulfills its promise of killing John Bell, while also forcing Betsy and her mother, Lucy, into considering their own roles in what created the spirit.

The Bell Witch is, at once, a historical novel, a ghost story, a horror story and a love story all rolled into one.

Four friends struggle to survive in a new world taken over by the undead until they find peace in Maryland’s winter, but even though the frigid temperatures keep them safe, hidden dangers lurk within the shadows.

Machinery Technician Third Class Eric Hagen in the U.S. Coast Guard abandons his post out of Jacksonville Florida after his whole world is transformed. The streets are teaming with crazed people, possessed by an insatiable appetite for human flesh. He soon learns that these manic people are not what they appear and are undead.

Traveling north in a post-apocalyptic world Eric leads a team of four to Baltimore Maryland in search for his family and in the process makes a family of his own. The cold winter months provide some relief from the undead, but he soon realizes dangers from within his newly formed family are just as dangerous as the perils outside.

Whispering Pines is a classic, quiet, private American subdivision on the edge of Asheville, NC, set in the pristine Blue Ridge Mountains. Which is good since the zombie apocalypse has come to Western North Carolina and really put suburban living to the test!
Surrounded by a sea of the undead, the residents of Whispering Pines have adapted their bucolic life of block parties to scavenging parties, common area groundskeeping to immediate area warfare, neighborhood beautification to neighborhood fortification.

But, even in the best of times, suburban living has its ups and downs what with nosy neighbors, a strict Home Owners’ Association, and a property management company that believes the words “strict interpretation” are holy words when applied to the HOA covenants. Now with the zombie apocalypse upon them even those innocuous, daily irritations quickly become dramatic struggles for personal identity, family security, and straight up survival.

Welcome to normal life in Z-Burbia!

This is what the beginning of the end looks like.

They call it the Qilu virus. It came from the East, from somewhere along the Yellow River in China. It swept across the world within weeks, turning normal people into savage lunatics. There is nothing anyone can do to stop it.

Former boxer, Colin Ross, is determined to flee the mountain town of Wenatchee, Wa, before it is devastated by the virus, but to do it he must survive trigger-happy police, hordes of the infected, and the brutal winter cold.

And in plague-ravaged Seattle, a man called Rooster leaves a path of sadistic violence and murder on his quest for vengeance against a dangerous enemy.

Blackwater Heights is a building with a long dark history, some of it is well known but more is shrouded in myth and legend. None more so than that of its founding father Horace Whisker.

Martin Parcell is an ex-journalist with shattered dreams of an author's career. Sidelined through a car crash's injuries, he finds himself forced through governmental austerity measures having to take a custodians position at a private mental health hospital. A writer with undoubted talent, but an author without a story.

He begins his new job deep in depression and drowning under waves of his lost dreams. On his first night he meets Jimmy, his elderly supervisor who has spent most of his life within the hospital walls. Jimmy is nearing retirement age and desperate to rest his weary bones. Jimmy offers Martin a way out for both of them, access to the background histories and stories of the hospital's patients.

A collection of 13 tales from the darkly disturbed minds of the residents of Blackwater Heights. As the long night unwinds, Martin finds himself deeply troubled as the tales unfold before him and threaten to drag him down into their insanity.

Descending Son $4.99

Every scary story should begin in the trunk of a car. The darkness and claustrophobia allow the senses to run wild, to distort reality, and to surface the mind’s worst nightmares. Which is also how I felt when I first read Descending Son by Scott Shepherd. And I mean that in a good way.

Descending Son opens with protagonist Jess Stark being pulled from one such trunk and dragged across a desert floor. He is disoriented, struggling to identify landmarks and sounds, frantically searching for faces in the dark. Then a realization hits Jess: returning to Palm Springs was a very bad idea.

It’s not a spoiler to say that Scott Shepherd has many surprises for his readers—any good writer does. But Descending Son packs a wallop, one that will sink its teeth into the core of readers’ expectations. Scott is a pro at making a potentially outlandish plot seem utterly convincing, having written for cult-classic TV show Quantum Leap (a huge favorite of mine). His novel weaves fantastic elements into what at first seems like a traditional murder mystery. Descending Son took me to places I didn’t expect, and I loved every skin-prickling step of the journey.

Back to the car trunk: it has a hinged lid, and what lies inside is only darkness—unless the trunk is opened. Does that remind you of a coffin? Yeah, me too. But don’t tell Jess. He’s got problems enough as it is.

The Return Man $7.59

The outbreak tore the U.S. in two. The east remains a safe haven. The west has become a ravaged wilderness. They call it the Evacuated States. It is here that Henry Marco makes his living. Hired by grieving relatives, he tracks down the dead and delivers peace.

Now Homeland Security wants Marco for a mission unlike any other. He must return to California, where the apocalypse began. Where a secret is hidden. And where his own tragic past waits to punish him again.

But in the wastelands of America, you never know who - or what - is watching you.

Hell House $8.89
