(A Novel of Spiritual Fantasy, Bi-sexual Romance) (The Comyenti Series Book 1)

For millennia, humanity has persecuted the beautiful and mysterious human-looking comyentis with a deep set envy and hatred; driving them from their lands; murdering and enslaving them wherever they find them. Why? Comyentis have powers that humans can only dream of. They can merge their minds with animals and use their abilities for the greater good. However they had one weakness that led to their downfall.
Now, Sula, one of the last of her great and noble line, has been fleeing for her life, living in hiding for too long. With not just her own life but her whole species’ cupped precariously within her hands Sula is running out of time...

Should Sula, who is after all half human, trust him? Can she afford not to? Will she be able to overcome her aversion to humans to save her species from extinction?

'The Queen's Curse' was her debut novel and has received some great reviews.
It's a heroic Spiritual Fantasy novel in the old tradition, yet with original and surprising elements. It attracts attention from a wide range of people, both straight and gay as it deals with many issue's such as: justice/injustice, power, lesbian romance, freedom, adventure, magic, immortality, intrigue, soul searching, love, life, loss, near death experience and sword and sorcery.
In this book the author explores more than the ancient battle between good and evil so common in Fantasy literature. What is evil and how does someone become bad? Available for Kindle and in Paperback.

In her writing she deals with big psychological and ethical themes and struggles of life such as death, love and loss and tries to build strong characters as realistic as possible, for even though the genre is Fantasy she wants people to feel connected with her heroes and villains as they would with their real life people.
Mrs Hellenthal is influenced by writers such as Marion Zimmer Bradley and Tanith Lee, Kahlil Gibran and Hermann Hesse.
She is currently working on Book 2 in the Epic Fantasy series, The Comyenti Saga,'Children Of The Sun' which will be released Summer 2014!
Book 1 in the series, 'Call Off The Search' was published on the 26th of December 2013 and is available both for Kindle and in Paperback.

1. What got you interested in writing a Bi-Sexual storyline with this book?
It came quite natural to me as a bi-sexual writer to have a female bi-sexual main character, Sula Comyenti. She is half human, half comyenti and discovers that she is attracted to her husband's twin sister, but only later on in the book. She is stuck between both worlds and can't find peace in either, so to speak. It adds something to the story, even though it's is not the main plot, but it is still a big part of the struggles Sula has with herself and the world around her.
Excerpt: 'I’m not human and not comyenti,' Sula said.
Feline stood still, as did Sula.
‘You’re both, which is better.’ Feline smiled warmly at her.
‘I love both you and Felix, a man and a woman. Does that make me better too?’ Sula said with a hint of sarcasm.
2. How has the reaction from readers been? Have you inspired anyone struggling with their sexuality?
The lesbian community has been less supportive of this book than my debut novel, The Queen's Curse, which was an Epic Lesbian Fantasy. It's always harder to market a book with bi-sexual content as a novel like that also sits in between two worlds; the gay and straight community. Readers from both sides might be put off. I have not received any criticism so far though, just less sales! It has lesbian and sexual content in it but I want to reach out to the right kind of people. I hope though that the book will inspire people and that they will travel with Sula on that journey and that they will get the message: it doesn't matter what you are as long as you are comfortable in your own skin, you don't need to label yourself. Romantic love after all comes from the heart and should not have any boundaries or limits.
Unfortunately both my parents have passed away, but I know they would have been supportive and proud of me that I followed my dream. I am married to my first editor who of course is very supportive.
4. Who do you fangirl over?
I quite like Xena and Gabrielle! I have the ultimate collection at home for dvd, sad but true. I admire both of their characters equally, although I'm physically more attracted to Xena, dark and dangerous!
5. While writing, do you have any special treats or drinks needed? Any special atmosphere?
To be able to write I need to be alone and it needs to be quiet around me as I get distracted very easily. Even my dog who follows me to my desk and will sleep in the windowsill. Her scratching herself or whimpering in her sleep already pulls me away from my thought process!
I don't really drink or eat much whilst I'm writing as I'm so engrossed in what I'm doing. I retreat to the garage which is converted to a little office. I have all my stuff around me, my books, my notes, my atmosphere. When I close the door I already enter my own world which I will leave again upon opening the door a couple of hours later.
6. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully in the south of France where we are planning to go next, living in a nice house in the mountains and close to the sea surrounded by peace and quiet. On top of that having some land to grow our own food.
