“I love you Kenna and I will never lose you. I promise.”

 Blurb:
There are three rules when it comes to being a vampire in New Orleans.
1) Don’t kill dinner.
2) Don’t feed from people you know.
3) Don’t tell anyone. Not too hard, right? Wrong. Kenna
is a new vampire filled with a passion that has turned into an uncontrollable lust for blood.
Will Arthur be able to stop her feeding spree before the coven comes after her or is Kenna
beyond saving?

Arthur has been watching Kenna for years, wanting her to try her own hand in life before he
gave her the ultimate proposal. Now that she has accepted, will his love be enough to save
her?

Meet Jennifer:

One day while slaving away at her monotonous day job, Jennifer Martinez found her true
calling. Like a firefly in the night, the pages called to her. Once she caught the bug there was
no stopping it. Her fingers flew furiously across the keyboard winding tales of love, mystery and
anger. She snapped out of her reverie to find herself still behind the desk but at least she knew
who she was… Author Jennifer Martinez.

I like to think of myself as a beautiful conundrum. When I am not writing, I can be found
surrounded by my amazing family and 4 dogs or volunteering at a local animal rescue. I love who

I am and don’t mind at all when I get strange looks from people. I am a tattoo covered, child and
animal lover who looks forward to destroying peoples preconceived notions of what “someone
like me” would be interested in. You only live life once… you may as well make it interesting.

I love to get lost in a good book and hope that everyone will get lost in mine.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
The day I started Don’t Kill Dinner. I was just having one of those days and started writing a few days later I reread what I wrote and was thought to myself that sounds like a good book and never looked back. It’s still mind blowing to see my book cover on things or to tell people “Oh, I’m an author.”

How long did it take you to write your book?
I started it in December so 2 ½ months.. Not too bad. I was really able to pick up the pace when my wonderful husband said I didn’t have to work anymore. He’s kind of amazing like that.

What genre is your book? What made you choose to write in that category?
Its a Urban Fantasy/New Adult Romance. I have always loved vampires so that part was a cinch to decide the New Adult Romance part happened on accident. My main character Kenna decided she wanted to get frisky.. Its still one of my favorite scenes in the book 0:-)

What was your work schedule like when you were writing?
Long... I worked on the blog during the day then in the evenings I would write. It wasn’t until the very end I started getting inspired to write during the day.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
Hm, I don’t know.. I have the normal Coffee + Chocolate = awesome writing but other than that I would say my ability to write anywhere. It took my husband a while to get used to but I had to start taking a notebook with me wherever we went dinner, the bowling alley, the bar. When the mood strikes I just have to get it on paper.

Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
The idea came out of nowhere. I was upset about something that had happened and I opened a word doc and things just started happening. The history and setting came from experience. I spent 2 months in New Orleans back in 2011 and so everything I talk about is from my memory. The bars are real, the streets are real. Even Becca :) She was one of the first friends I made there.

Are you currently working on another book? If so, is it part of a series or something different?
I am working on book 2 in The Rules Trilogy, Don’t Feed and a new YA book, Blossom. Blossom is a completely different story about a 16 year old girl who finds out she is heir to the throne of a Fae kindgom and was sent to New York as an infant to hide from the warring kingdom trying to kill her.

What do you like to do when you're not writing?
When I am not writing I am playing with my dogs and my hubs. I have 4 fur babies and I love them all to death! Our youngest Sirius Black loves to go swimming so we head to the beach a lot and swim in the lake behind our house. I also love crafting. I’ve been scrapbooking for a few years and have recently been introduced to beading... I love it!

What does your family think of your writing?
My family is really excited. My mom always wanted to be a writer but hasn’t accomplished it yet so she has been living vicariously through me since I told her about it. My man loves telling people he is married to a writer. The rest of my family is all about it I am very blessed to have such an awesome support system. I wouldn’t trade them for the world.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned about yourself in creating your books?
I am twisted!!! I really enjoyed killing people and hiding the bodies. lol. I have always been interested in the human body so actually being able to utilize that fascination was a lot of fun.

Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?
I do and its awesome! I love hearing from people. I get a kick out of the things they say. One of my favorite comments had to be “THAT BITCH IS WITH ARTHUR? OH HELL NO! FUCK KENNA! Vampire or not, I will whoop her ass! AND I WILL COME BETWEEN THEM.” I almost peed myself I laughed so hard.. Its comments like that that make writing worth it.

As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
A firefighter. I made it to lifeguard and first responder but that was about it.

My review of Don't Kill Dinner

Don't Kill Dinner (The Rules, #1)Don't Kill Dinner by Jennifer Martinez
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

WOW! For a first novel, this author shows an amazing talent. The story flows so well, you can't stop reading, don't want to put it down, and are held captive by Kenna. The notion of a heroine is blasted away in Don't Kill Dinner. Your notion of good, thoughts of vampires and ideas of evil are twisted and changed forever. There's an actual plot and I loved it. This is a strong story.

Kenna, after being turned into a vampire, experiences real love, strength and power she's never had before, and much more.

Arthur, who has been in love with Kenna, secretly, for years, is her sire. They fall in love fast, but will they burn out?

To say this is not your average Vampire story, is a discredit to this author. It's an phenomenal story, leaving you begging for the next installment.
